I think that my mind is a little bit too subtle during this exercise. I tired do the meditation twice and each time I tried to do it I would fall asleep when she stopped talking, then she scared me each time she talked again. I preferred the loving kindness exercise because there was more guided. I tend to drift off when there are long pauses during the meditations.
Spiritual wellness is connected to mental and physical wellness because what you believe at your core makes you who you are. I think of it like stacking blocks… the spiritual wellness is the base, then you mental wellness… if you have something to believe in and hope for… your mental health is better, your outlook wouldn’t be as negative. By having a better mental outlook this helps to improve your overall physical wellness.
Hello Nena. I used to have the same experience when I would partake in guided meditation. The long pauses are a tool to practice each step. The more that you practice; the less likely you will be to fall asleep. Perhaps doing them in the morning or during the day will prevent you from drifting off. I liked both exercises equally. They both had positives and negatives at first, but the more that I have been doing them, the more beneficial they are becoming to my wellness. I am finding it easier to clear my mind, and my compassion for others continues to grow. Good luck!

Hi Nena, sorry to hear that you had a difficult time with the Subtle mind exercise, I must admit at times I too wanted to fall asleep due to the calming sound of the ocean in the back round. I like your point on spiritual wellness and physical wellness being core of who we are as humans. Reading your post really shed some light and gave me a better perspective on how are mind and body are connected to each other. Keep up the good work.

Hey Nena,
ReplyDeletetoo subtle for the exercise? I wish my mind could be that subtle at times:-) However, I understand what you mean by the "voice" startling you, I have that same prolem. In addition, it is very true that when a person is spiritual, they have something to look foward to and a positive out look on life. I couldn't imagine not having a spiritual connection to anything..
Great post:-)
